About us

Michael Chambers: I’m a recording engineer turned musician turned recording engineer. It all started back when I got a Tascam 4 track when I was in grade 10. A few years later I ended up at the Producing Engineering Program at Harris Institute. Next thing you know I’m helping out on all kinds of fun recording sessions, from Willie P. Bennett to The Philosopher Kings. And bands start paying me to make recordings.

That’s how I met Dave Azzolini. He found me through a mutual friend, and presto, we were making great demos for his projects. Shortly thereafter he asked me to be the guitarist of a band he started called The Golden Dogs. After almost five years of playing guitar, being the resident recording engineer, touring and a record deal, I decided to go back to what I love best: recording.

Kathleen Farley: Once upon a time I graduated from the producing and engineering program at the Harris Institute in Toronto, Canada. I worked a little with mixmama Karen Kane who let me tag along on sessions with her, where I mostly made bad coffee and did tape op. Then I got sidetracked for 10 years working in the nonprofit sector. Despite this, I still persisted in reading every issue of Sound on Sound I could get my hands on, and managed to keep hanging out with some pretty cool musicians and engineers.Michael and I decided to start up this little site to help musicians who are interested in the recording process. We hope you like the results.
